I really like your new web site. I was very impressed with the new newsletter. Looks like the club is doing well. Hope to make a show or meeting soon!
Any chance of adding to the web site a membership and contact list with one photo of each member's car (or favorite)?

I will pay to ride in an AMC (in the Winston-Salem, NC area).
My first car was a 1971 AMC Hornet. I got it before my 16th birthday, and I still remember cranking it up and driving back and forth in our driveway in anticipation of the day I would have my driver’s license. It was already a little over a decade old, but it was a great car nonetheless. I drove it. I washed it. I waxed it. I photographed it. I loved it. Then, the summer before I went off to college, I wrecked it.
I’m not generally a big car enthusiast, but every once in a while I see an AMC (or picture of one) and think, “Those were the days.” Those flared fenders. Those rectangular door handles. Those interchangeable parts!
Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy the here-and-now. I like my car’s CD player, GPS, electric windows, working windshield washer, working AC, cruise control, airbags, and all (or at least most) of the other stuff my Hornet didn’t have. Besides, I don’t have the time, the money, the knowledge, or (frankly) the motivation to buy and restore an old car.
I would, however, love to ride in an AMC one last time before these rarities of the road fade away completely. If you have a working American Motors Vehicle and would be willing to take me for a spin in it, I would be willing to pay a reasonable fee. I would prefer a 1970’s Hornet, Pacer, or Gremlin, but I’ll take what I can get, so if you’ve got a Spirit, Concord, Eagle, etc., close enough.
My wife would probably call me crazy were it not for the fact that her first car was also an AMC Hornet! Hers was a later model than mine, but she’s a later model than I am, so I guess that’s fair.
I know this is kind of crazy, but people have paid for sillier things. If you can help, please e-mail me at goieidh@hotmail.com. Thanks!
